Mischelle and I founded Escapade Ecotours in 2004 to provide locals, interstate and international visitors and corporate clients with an unprecedented five star luxury sailing experience in the local waters and islands off Perth, Western Australia.
Through our prior experience owning a boat and exploring the pristine coastline, we discovered the wonderful extra dimension boating added to life in Western Australia – every voyage was an escapade. We decided to create a business that made this experience open to as many people as possible for as many reasons as possible – and do it in an environmentally friendly way by providing what are now commonly called “ecotours”.
We chose a sailing vessel for exploring the clear, clean waters of the Western Australian coastline with its spectacular scenery, natural wonders and abundant sea life as it best matched our goal to be environmentally friendly. Sailing boats are better for the environment as motion power is provided by the wind rather than engines – a silent, zero pollution means of travelling through the ocean and having close encounters with its inhabitants.
The choice of a sailing catamaran has proven to be a good one providing a fantastic viewing platform for close encounters with the sea life including dolphins, seals and whales and making the most of the scenery.
As you can see from the images, dolphins often swim between the hulls and congregate, swimming around the two bows of the boat – only metres away from our guests on the expansive forward deck.
We operate all year round out of the popular Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour sailing off the coast of Perth, in Cockburn Sound and to Rottnest, Carnac and Garden islands offering sailing tours of Perth surrounds and private yacht charter experiences.If you are looking for a unique way to see Perth or after a close encounter with local Perth dolphins or whales our charter boat is an excellent way to do it in style.
When encountering the local sea life such as dolphins, seals and whales our number one priority is their welfare. Escapade Ecotours holds commercial tour operator licences for whale, seal and dolphin watching in Perth from the WA Department of Environment and Conservation.
We want to provide as many people as possible with an opportunity to experience the stunning Perth coastline and sealife aboard Escapade, so we have created various organised tours which depart from Fremantle Harbour. Alternatively our boat is available for private charter. We are limited to small groups (up to 20 persons depending on destination) so offer friendly hospitality and an intimate setting no matter which option you choose.
